History & Politics
Guardian
Millennium
Starting in 1960 move forward year by year to read the summary of the main
events and people of each year as selected by The Guardian. Lots of links
through to the individual stories and people.
The
British Century
A Christmas gift in 1999 from the Daily Telegraph, the historian John
Keegan tells the story of the UK's survival and regeneration, from 1945 to
1999. An excellent and detailed history. Superb writing.
BBC:
English & Scottish Timelines
A super history timeline from The BBC. This one covers the period from
1945 to 2000 with a series of articles covering time periods and major
events - including the sixties and seventies.
The
Sixties Project Web Site
An academic project website that provides a number of resources
specifically for scholars interested in the history of the sixties and the

material.

century. The list ranks the top 100 signal points, inventions, ideas and

Larry
Keenan Gallery

Apollo
Manned Space Missions
A not very exciting index page for Project Apollo - the manned space
missions launched by NASA in America and culminating in Apollo 11. Read
the detailed (and I mean detailed) story of the flight to the point of the
two great lines: "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has
landed!" and a little later: " That's one small step for man . .
. one giant leap for mankind." Of course there's a lot more on this
huge NASA site. Great history.
dMarie
Time Capsule
The Time Capsule is an online database that will generate an information
page for any given date from 1800 to just a few weeks ago. It's very
American in its outlook. But you can discover the headlines, top songs,
major films and the other things you'll want to know about your selected
date.
Vietnam
War Internet Project
The Vietnam War Internet Project is an educational organization dedicated
to providing information and documents about the various Indochina Wars
and to the collection and electronic publication on the web of oral
histories and memoirs of both those who served in and those who opposed
those conflicts. A major website with lots to see.
Chicago
'68
The antiwar protests and events in Chicago during the 1968 Democratic National Convention changed history.
Includes a detailed chronology, bibliography and more.
Photographs
from the Sixties
American photographs from the Sixties: Viet Nam and the San Francisco Bay
Area 1966-1971. View thirty 1960s photographs taken by Bil Paul the
photographer and publisher of the book The Tri-X Chronicles. The army/Viet
Nam photos were taken in Ft. Lewis, Washington and in the vicinity of Qui
Nhon, Viet Nam while Bil was serving in the U.S. Army. The be-in, hippy,
campus demonstration and Peoples Park photos were shot mostly while he was
freelancing for local underground newspapers.
